Speak

A hymn about hearing God speak:

Speak, Lord, in the Stillness
Speak, Lord, in the stillness,
While I wait on Thee;
Hushed my heart to listen
In expectancy.
Speak, O blessed Master,
In this quiet hour;
Let me see Thy face, Lord,
Feel Thy touch of power.
For the words Thou speakest,

"They are life," indeed;
Living Bread from heaven,
Now my spirit feed!
All to Thee is yielded,
I am not my own;
Blissful, glad surrender,
I am Thine alone.
Speak, Thy servant heareth!
Be not silent, Lord;
Waits my soul upon Thee
For the quickening word!
Fill me with the knowledge
Of Thy glorious will;
All Thine own good pleasure
In my life fulfill.
Like "a watered garden"
Full of fragrance rare
Ling'ring in Thy presence
Let my life appear.

The Thunder Rolls

Praise You in This Storm
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Chorus

Today's Prayer: "God, this song sums it up. You know the depths of my heart. I don't. Amen."

Chastening

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (Revelation 3:19)

Keep your conscience clean. Strive to keep offense out of your life, both towards God and man. (Acts 24:16)

Those whom God loves, He chastens. So be enthusiastic! Celebrate the ability to feel conviction because it means there is a connection between you and God. Just remember, you cannot do anything about what you do not see or what you do not know. So, let's rejoice when God shows us our sin.

Recently, God brought to mind something that happened a number of years ago, an unresolved issue. I had stuffed it down and locked the door. But God in His great love and through an unlikely chain of events, gently caused it to resurface. Now, faced with the dilemma of what to do with all the raw emotion, I understand why God wants us to deal with things as they occur. Tonight, God and I finally put it to rest, wrestled it to the ground, with God on top and me lying on the floor panting for air. He won and therefore I win.
